Last Call

Last Call

A Poem by AmericanStandard

Imagine, if you will, last call at a bar.
Sad? Yes.
So you stumble out to your car.
Now imagine driving down the rode,
Radio blaring way to loud.
You try your best to keep it straight,
But your heads up in the clouds.
You never see it happen,
You never feel the crash.
The medic says you died instantly,
As he bags the phone that was on the dash.

Imagine, if you will, the last call from your love.
Happy? Of course.
It's like heaven up above.
Now imagine driving down the rode,
With a smile reaching from ear to ear.
Then you see what's coming towards you,
And your body locks in fear.
Your life flashes past your eyes,
The pain suddenly subsides.
But for some reason no one notices you,
And then you realize you died.

Imagine, if you will, the last call to your love ends in a fight.
Depressing? Always.
So you head to the bar to complete your night.
The rounds come faster and faster,
As you dial the number over and over.
You just want to talk and work it through,
But they'll only answer when you're sober.
You hear last call one last time as you finish up your beer.
You stumble out to your car,
Not knowing what's drawing near.
You call the number one last time,
Only to get the voice mail again.
You leave a message as you swerve from right to left,
"I love you, I always will, and I'm sorry for what I said."

Two people lost in tragedy,
For a broken hearts mistake.
A very twisted end to life,
A horrible seal of fate.

Morale of the story… Just because you're mad at someone doesn't mean you should block them out, because that call you just ignored could be the last.
