Ancient Sea

I wrote this when I was 14 for an English assignment where we had to picture something and write about it in a deeper meaning than what it just looks like.

It brushes the sand
As it reflects on its age
It has been here
Since the first day

It cools the fires
Within our souls
It's a grave for those
Who have paid the toll

It has seen many things
Stories, never been told
But those we know
Are now ancient cold

It'll be here
Long after we're gone
It's the sea
Life goes on
