All I Can Do

All I Can Do

A Poem by Amy Black

I don't know how to do anything but love you

I try hating you but I can't keep it up for more than a few seconds

I try being angry, but that only lasts until I see you smile

I try forgetting, distracting myself

I try to not care

I tell myself I can live without you, that I can find someone else

and that I could also live by bread alone

but I wouldn't want to

and neither would anyone else

This is the cause of my frustration, anger, depression, heartache, fury

and sometimes joy.

I wish I could hate you, but all I can do is love you...

damn it.
