Succession

Succession

A Poem by John Prophet

Succession.
Lines of
succession.
Battle cries
from
yore.
Melded.
Mixed
in with
the
wind.
Sparks
of fury.
Flickering
fade.
Snuffed
out of
existence.
No memory.
Gone,
forgotten.
As never
were.
From
one
to the
next.
Ancient
past
forward.
Generation
to
generation.
Chapters
dissipate.
New
authors
ascend.
New
pages
assigned.
Deadly
work.
Messy
words.
Then to
now.
Strange
tome
written.
Aggressively
transcribed.
