with a stolen kiss
and words that linger

there upon your lips
my own would be set free
with the softest of sighs
and a gentle release

between fingertip strokes
lost ballads
sing love's notes

This one is a cut above a lot of the relationships poems that appear on this site. There is nothing of the can't live without you, baby/you done me wrong school about it. Rather, in its few brief lines it makes us want to know more about the speaker, who, without the slightest vulgarity, creates an aura of sensuousness. We would also like to know more about "lost ballads," a phrase that has something of the sadness of experience about it. Someone has done a lot of thinking about the nature of love.

I love the way you make the sensuous connection between the mouth & the music . . . almost as if the two are making love to each other (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Thanks a bunch Margie :)

Truth be told, in my uneducmicated way, I've never really known just specifically what a ballad is!
Your fine offering on the subject matter suggests you are well acquainted with the format (?) and more, even able to create a lovely original poem using it (the Ballad) as an effectively soft poetic vessel.
I am going to have to enhance my edgemucateon qualifications re; the ballad by doing some extracurricular reading, a thing I am rarely inclined to do.
Such has been the effect of this fine offering, A.

thanks Neville :)
Lost ballads certainly made sweet music to my ears. Beautiful poem Ana. So very tastefully delivered. With the softest of sighs and a gentle release. Tender, mingled with sadness.

I can't argue with that. :)
dear Ana... lost Ballads are sweet and nostalgic...
where memories linger on the boughs of tomorrow.
gently, Pat

Indeed they are, thanks so much Pat!
You do have such a way of capturing those softest of sighs Ana. I can almost hear that soundtrack softly playing in the ddistance.

Must have been farther away than I thought, as distance had an echo 😀

Thanks for the kindness you show my poems, Lorry!
This is so beautiful...The best part of love is saying it without words...With a kiss or perhaps with just a sigh or two...
