I am beautiful

I am beautiful

A Chapter by Ana Papaya

I am beautiful

I am the dirt
held in your hands
not boring and bland

but comforting and warm
as the desert sands

in the trunk of the tree
I am the strength
upon which it stands

I am beautiful
not by what you can see

I am beautiful because
of  what I can be

hot cocoa
a castle on the beach
the cool taste of chocolate
in the shape of ice cream

I am beautiful
not by what you can see

I am beautiful because
of what I can be

Very skillful use of imagery in this offering. The images appeal not only to the mind, but also to the senses, as in the reference to the warmth of the desert sands and the cool taste of chocolate. The repetition of the lines stating "I am beautiful because/ of what I can be" is important, especially to women, who from an early age are judged by outward appearances rather than for potential. A message that is both thoughtful and sensuous. Well done.

Hi Fran Marie, thank you very much. :)
Great imagery here Ana. More so the feeling of warmth your lines gave me. Ploughed fields, furrowed and waiting is another that crossed my mind. Also my current avatar in shades of. Yes I love brown too. Nicely penned.

Some people consider brown a dull colour but it signifies stability and reliability and it is certainly far better than beige! You have taken the colour and given it a lovely gloss so that we can all see its defining qualities. Its a very creative idea, Ana and one well written. Much enjoyed, this one! :)

Gee
I agree wholeheartedly with JTB.
I like to imagine what the writers on here look like( those without photo's).
I've got you down as 5' 7" , dark wavy hair, brown eyes( with a glint of mischief) a nose very much like Tabitha, full pale red lips and a body that does jeans every justice and can turn the head of a passing fella :))
Hope you are well

You are welcome :)
We need rich earth to grow... in the hands of a warm and
loving being. The trunk of a tree to support branches...
reaching out to strangers. I can be a blossom to soothe a Robin...
and I can sing about being "brown" or any other shade that just happens to be me.
A refreshing poem that heals like a "Balm". truly, Pat
