"Poetry Is An Aural Art...

"Poetry Is An Aural Art...

A Poem by Chris
"

Listening to the ghostlets drifting through

"

…for me I always - A L W A Y S - remember that

"Poetry Is An Aural Art..."

I deal in tones and echoes.

How sounds feel

and the words in their shimmering seem -

to move

to weave

to dance and fly,

to BE alive --

to weep and laugh

til you feel the sounds

of a frown

of a hope

…know a tear in ANGER,

despair in a smile.

Life holds the rhythm -

and its beat we follow

as the flow takes us to EVERY where

that our eyes might touch

what our ears ...dreamed.

This is so lovely... Makes me want to read every poem aloud... Let my ears dream what my eyes have touched...

what our ears dreamed. yes. This is a fitting poem. Poetry is felt by the writer and heard by the reader so much more than just "seen" in so many cases. Words have cadence, music of their own. Wonderful reminder of that. Thank you

The last stanza sums up this whole thing perfectly and it's such a beautiful idea and image. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and indeed, reading this aloud makes it just that little bit more special.

I've been out of the loop on this site but I'm glad to be back and reading your work!!

Welcome back and thanks for pausing here and for your thoughts.
You are right. Poetry is not just words on a page. It must be heward to really come alive.

Chris, I am sorry it has taken me so long to get to one of your pieces. I have finally figured this site out and I have been doing a lot of RR's. (I am thinking of turning that off for a bit and just floating around) I just saw your name pop on my feed and wanted to get to you! Now, on this piece. I often read poems aloud. I can get a feel for the flow, the words get inside my head better. Then, if the words are right, images and feelings come along for the ride. Those are the best ones. Totally agree with you! Angi~

My pleasure, Chris!
Some times, we must tell
Aloud..
My heart stopped.. I needed .. I wanted ..I lost
And scents of flowers upon graves..
The smooth and rough of days
Blue skies, scars and dreamy sounds inside-out..
Some times.. we must tell aloud

So many echoes from there.. to hear.
Wow ... Jazz x

You penned the voices of those "ghostlets" well.
Yes, poetry can feel like the answer to our ears dreaming. You twist the kaleidoscope her a bit for a new vision of the written word.
I shall have to start reading aloud to myself. I actually do this with several writers because it helps me feel their work so much better.
Thank you for the sounds of your thoughts.
