"Walking Along The Waves..."

"Walking Along The Waves..."

A Poem by Chris
"

You don't always win...

"

“She sells sea shells by…” Strange the lil meaningless ditties that weave within your mind as you stand lost in time - gazing out over your now.  Sand and waves - each marching, cascading endlessly atop the other and swirling, twirling over and around and finally erasing the marks your existence brought to where your “now” …is… was.  Sometimes you want to talk but… well, life doesn’t provide caring ears too often - that’s just how it is.  So you put yourself where the white noise lets you think and the thoughts fill you…

“Walking Along The Waves…”

I haven't ever seen you as a Fairy Princess,

nor all clothed in white light.

I've seen you as a real person -

wants and flaws...heart and angries.

Sometimes I wondered about your daydreams;

the directions they took...

sometimes I saw the woman looking at me

and sometimes a very little girl.

Somedays I had daydreams too -

“he said and she saids”...

and not silly at all thoughts.

Intent-full dreams of “nothing” moments -

things that wouldn’t end a world,

though I wished they could have created

one.

Somedays I breathed...

others I didn't remember how.

Life does that -

touches you behind your eyes

leaving you to deal as only you

can.

Sometimes you stand til the sun

rises

…right there…

watching life wash up like driftwood -

a lost world’s debris

of sundered moments

and ended futures.

…And somedays you just turn away

And walk and walk and walk…

"Sometimes you stand til the sun

the intro (if you will) reads like a book...have you written any? it put the hook in and "Walking Along The Waves" for me is a complex weaving of the simple; bits and pieces of a relationship mused over while hypnotic waves draw ones thoughts deeper... thoroughly enjoyed reading all of this..

absolutely
Your work always settles deep in my soul somewhere and I always feel as though you're speaking right to me over a cuppa coffee or a vintage glass of vino, and we walk and walk....love this Chris.

My years have seen a lot of walks along beaches, listening to the soothing sound of the waves, the feel of warm sand between my toes, searching for shells and pieces of driftwood. Mother Nature never fails to give me comfort. One walk along an empty Lake Michigan beach shortly after my daughter was killed comes to mind. I could feel her there with, could almost see her. Thanks for your thought provoking write, Chris.

Can you see me smiling?
I had a piece of candy last night
And thought about a little blue dress
That I wore long ago..
I wasn't alone exactly
I thought about my brother
And the times we sat in the sand
And looked out at the Ocean
And smiled a great deal !
Today is His birthday..60th
I am so happy we have each other
To Love..

So many thoughts to share, and so many "little nothing" moments to hold inside...
I am glad you walked this way .. and shared your thoughts ... Jazz xo

What makes this poem so incredible to me is that I remember the very first time I walked along the beach here in San Diego. I was so in awe at the sound, the smell and the feel of the waves crashing at my feet.

Your words are surging through me like those waves, Chris... for this is one of the best poems I've ever read!

So do I... remember walking Mission Beach
I love to go to the cliffs, watch the ocean and ponder life. Just as I return time and time again to the ocean...I will return to read again your thoughts you share, for something new always stirs, each time I visit

You are always welcome Chris ( :
I found this deeply moving and close to heart and soul... profound thoughts here, many I have lingered with myself.

As always, Chris, your thoughts move me.

Shar we share many visions and your window held sights my coffee grew cold over.
The last 15 months have been very much like this, for me, there where days when I didn't even recognize myself or the people I loved so dearly, it happens I suppose, people change , grow, and some fail to look back. There are days like today when a presence is so thick in my mind that it seems no time has passed at all and the pain forgets itself and you laugh at something they once said, or cry because you miss them that much, so much it seems as if it has a life of it's own and it's pissed to be where it is..away...
Chris this poem breathes all by itself, i'm going to favorite it.

life takes some funny twists and turns getting from here to there.. and even the smoothest trail can make the soles bleed... hardly ever have I gottten everything I wanted.. and I am not sure it is good for me to have that in the end.. love has no reason.. and neither does the heart that yearns.. we can not know for sure what the future will bring.. we can only live in the now.. and take what comfort we can.. when the waves pound the sea walls and the headlands shiver under the onslaught.. it is still the yearning heart that gives as well as takes.. and sometimes tags along with the wanderer..
