"A New Ditty For Jacks And Dianes..."

"A New Ditty For Jacks And Dianes..."

A Poem by Chris
"

Everyone justifies everything... don't they?

"

This is not a political statement BUT

I do admit to “enlightened” self-interest…

seems everyone justifies everything... don't they?

“A New Ditty For Jacks And Dianes…”

Nuke the world

and leave me be,

fanciful

and worry free!

FEEL the sun’s light

melt the sky.

Look around,

don’t worry whys!

Live without

a seeming care,

laugh and

twerk your derrière!

And when they kill YOU

In the end

well,

…shyt happens…

Chris

I can see the connection here, and I know the feeling, too.
The world is so screwed up, and many citizens ignore it by being self absorbed. Priorities are smeared with many items that don't belong there.
When will they awaken--When it is too late?
The daily news can be so damaging and depressing.
I try to focus on the positive and surround myself with positive people, but it isn't always possible.
Today, people are uncaring, centered on their own needs, and blind to so much.
You poem shows how our world is and why is so wrong right now.

Who knows?
Apocalyptic musing...we will all end at the same place and perhaps at even the same time so there is no time to waste in self pity but to grab each day when it comes and to do the most with it. You have seen what an apocalypse looks like so you have a frame of reference that most of us don't. The poem is jarring in its message to life, what we do with it and how it might end.

I'm glad you come by...
Everyone justifies everything, and by in large the world is oblivious to our machinations. It's just waiting for the right time to whistle for the right asteroid, and say "so there!"

Ok, I know a lot of people hated that song but I loved it. :)
This poem certainly delivers a strong message but I can't help but smile as I read it.
I love the in your face delivery of it.

everything is "in our face" now... seems the world is waiting for an "it" to happen...
Definitely the path those Jacks and Dianes would be on today. Gawd, I hated that song! I had this friend named Diane who actually wept over that song because of the way it made the average pimple-faced prick at school treat her.

They have mouths, but do not speak, They have eyes, but do not see.

Perhaps there will be no lights left for the last man standing to switch off.
