"Streetlights And Shadows..."

"Streetlights And Shadows..."

A Poem by Chris

"Streetlights And Shadows..."

If I 'stretched'...
I could see your garden.
Its only right there
just a lil left of
yesterdays
when you wished so soft upon THAT star

...the one you cried about next morning
cause you didn't get that wish
that one lil damn wish
that NOTHING - in the overall scheme of things,
that one lil wish that was the WORLD
your world
and all the king's horses and all...
and you filed wishes under tooth fairie
and santa, and daddys that come back
and mommas that hold ya soft
and falling stars became tear drops
and whispers - more emptiness
and hope... just another fist
- just beating and squeezing
you dry.

And the garden in your soul...
grew... quiet, silent...
nurtured by saltless faultless tears
weeded, trimmed oh so lightly
year-by-year-by-year...

there
just to the left of yesterdays
right there hon...
I waited... told ya.

Amazing Chris, how often have we tried to be there for those that dream in a kaleidoscope of color. When we fail them it hurts us more than them.
Great piece.
