The hard thing about listening
to music, narration, theater,
video clips, TV, and yes - people
any one -
is always when THAT voice
is NOT the one we hear INSIDE...
the one the MIND provides so freely
and personally...
so its somehow 'wrong'
the timbre, tone, the feel of it,
the way it just DOESN'T fit right...

...and the dissatisfaction grows
and takes away from the focus
and often closes our ears,
hearts, minds.

But when it IS that voice we hear inside -
well, listening is the very least we CAN do...
Gawd...
ya know?

I feel this way when listening to some audio books....if the voice isn't what I think it should be and I can't get used to it...ruins the whole thing, have to stop it and grab the book and let my mind make the voice for me. I know this isn't exactly what you wanted me to grab out of this, but hey, its hard to stop the mind from doing what it wants sometimes. I know there are a few voices, written, spoken or otherwise that have me hanging on every word...and yours is one of them. Loved it.

I know yes, never thought of it this way before but gawd, does this make sense! Great write. Love the philosophy in your writing.

at the very least , we owe it to ourselves

i think we become a part of what we hear and see, a sandwich
stacking up layers and changing what we want to order. Very
fine, Chris!

How often do we deny THAT voice choosing instead to listen to the other? What a different world it would be if we would only listen to our hearts. You whisper such eloquent words...
