"We Live As We Can..."

"We Live As We Can..."

A Poem by Chris

My friend, Laury - Eclipsing Moon-blood red
wrote and posted "As One Tear Drops"
It moved me directly to... places -
and this fell...

"We Live As We Can...

Seldom As We Want."

So many paths through the years -

roads always less and less - traveled,

tears marking the footfalls.

...and you wonder - "...how..."

and remember each why

as you lay in the dark

and sometimes you shake with the

emotion that never really left -

the heart.

You kept it all held so tight within,

and you cry - and you aren't supposed to DO that -
THAT,

and you cry harder

because you just HAVE to -

cry...

I've gently, lovingly, longingly held

teddy bears

and given them too

and sat in the wet and cold gazing at nothings

- you CAN pray to die

meaningfully

and wishfully.

- you can accept

life

and the aftermath of living through

life

...but seldom the surviving.

Chris

Most days do have histories, specially when one has traveled many roads... and gazed from many cafe windows.... the history of those days haunt, sometimes.

love always

Sometimes living is a punishment ...
And we were given tears, for a reason ..

Bravo. It brings to mind the idea I've been playing with of Woody Allen's. "Feel fortunate that you are miserable, and not horrible." The idea of using whats worse, to make yourself feel better, or at least to make yourself feel sane, because its what everyone else is doing. What are the levels of consciousness? Living contently, or with purpose, or spite? Why do we all stick around and keep doing this, why do some people need to be immortal through their work. Why do some want to disappear. You gave me a bunch to think about with this write.
My review is the product of your poem.

new years resolutions are not meant for saying so long, the aftermath of the aftermath can affect so many - so far away from where we live, and I'm not making any sense at all

it's just, well, I figure you knew there was a reason you wrote this today
