school of very little love

One day there was a high school alive with noises, noises of people cheering at a basketball game. It was the semi finals and the game was between Cloquet and Duluth. The game was at Cloquet and they were winning. As the Duluth coach was getting very angry, a high school student, named Sean Keesling, from Duluth got up from the bleachers and walked out of the gym. As he walked out a couple of the basketball players, named Jacob heeding and Mark Johnson saw him walk out and decided tomorrow at school they will make him pay for walking out of one of their most important games.

The next day when Sean walked into the school Jacob and Mark were waiting for him. As He walks in Jacob grabs Sean and then Mark hits him in the stomach three times. Then Jacob says “why didn’t you stay to represent your school at the semi finals?”

Sean replies “I left because you guys were getting your a*s whooped.”

“We were not getting beat because we won the game last night.” Mark says aggravated.

Then Jacob says “if we don’t see you at the finals tomorrow we will make the rest of your school year a living hell.”

Suddenly the bell rings and Mark says “saved by the bell.” As they walk down the hall to their first class leaving Sean on the ground in pain. A couple minutes pass by and Sean gets up and goes to the principal’s office and tells him what Jacob and Mark had done to him.

“Why didn’t you come in immediately after it had happened?” the principal asked.

As Sean is sitting in the chair he says “because I just told you why I couldn’t, it was because I was and still am in so much pain I could barely move.”

“Well I’m sorry I can’t do anything to help you in this situation.” The principal says to Sean.

Sean looks at him and says “why can you not help me, it happened on school grounds?”

“I’m sorry all I can say is for you to get a thicker skin and don’t let stuff like this happen anymore.” The principal replies shoeing Sean out of his office.

As the door to the principal’s office door shuts behind him he looks down to the ground and walks out of the office thinking. “Why am I such an easy target for everyone to either take their anger out on or to beat up just for fun?” As he walks down the hall towards his locker the bell rings and he sees Jacob and Mark waiting by his locker. So he decides to just turn around and walk away but Jacob and Mark see him and start to chase him down the hall. As Sean starts to run a few people see Jacob and Mark chasing him one person is a friend of Sean’s, named Amber Benning. As Sean gets to the end of the hall Amber sees Mark tackle Sean and then Mark and Jacob both grab him and drag him into the locker room. At first she thinks that they are going to throw him under one of the shower heads, turn it on and get Sean all wet. What she doesn’t know is that Mark and Jacob are taking their turns hitting and throwing Sean into the lockers and into the walls.

As the bell rings Mark and Jacob exit the locker room breathing heavily and they leave Sean in the locker room bleeding from cuts to his face, arms, and back. When the gym class walks in the locker room Mark and Jacob told them not to mind the person in there. So they just walk around Sean like he is not even there.

As Sean lies on the floor bleeding and barely holding onto consciousness he watches everyone just ignore him and not even look at him to see if he is alright. As a couple of hours pass the cuts have stopped bleeding and he has some energy to get up off of the floor he decides to just give up and go home. As he makes his way to the door the bell for lunch rings so he decides to stay in the locker room and hide until lunch is over. When Sean looks at the clock in the locker room he notices that lunch should be ending shortly but as he is about to leave the locker room he hears Mark and Jacob walking towards the door. So he decides to hide and try to get away when they are not looking.

When Mark and Jacob enter the locker room they notice that Sean had disappeared from the locker room so they stand looking at where they had left Sean and think where he could have gone. So as they are thinking Sean decides to make his escape and bolts out the door. As the door shuts Mark and Jacob turn around and run out the door to see who that was and where they went. As they look around Mark sees Sean running towards the cafeteria and him and Jacob start running after him.

As Sean gets to the end of the hall and runs into the cafeteria he thinks he is safe. As he stops thinking they wouldn’t attack me in front of the entire student body, Jacob and Mark burst through the doors. As they come through the doors Amber, who had gotten up to throw her garbage away, looks over and sees Sean with cuts to his face and arms and thinks “what the hell?” as she is thinking that she sees Jacob tackle Sean and Mark jump on top of them. Then she sees them drag him out if the cafeteria and back into the hall.

When she sees this she tells her friends that she is going to grab something from her locker and walks towards the door where Mark and Jacob took Sean. As she gets to the door she can see down the hall, Sean on the floor not moving. So she goes through the door and runs over to see if he is ok. As she gets closer she notices Mark and Jacob walk out of a nearby classroom. When they walk out she sees Jacob carrying a metal garbage can and she sees Mark stand Sean up. When Sean is standing Jacob swings the garbage can, like a baseball bat, and hit Sean in the head knocking him to the floor. As he hits the floor he doesn’t get up or move so Mark and Jacob decide to leave him where he is and they walk away.

As they walk away the bell for class rings but Amber doesn’t hear it right away. So her friends walk up to her and ask if she is alright. Then amber looks at them and says “no.”

Then one of her friends asks “why what’s wrong?”

“I just watched Jacob and Mark beat the living crap out of Sean.” Amber replies with concern in her eyes.

Then her friends laugh and say “are you seriously concerned about that freak, god that’s just sad.”

Then Amber points down the hall and says “is it sad that Sean hasn’t moved for almost five minutes now.”

Then her friends just walk away and go to class but Amber kneels down by Sean to see if he is alright but as she gets close she sees Sean start to get up. Then she asks “are you ok?”

“Ya I am fine” Sean says as he tries to walk towards the door holding his side.

Amber looks at Sean as he limps out the door so she decides to go to class. Two hours pass and school ends for the day and the whole basketball team is outside getting pumped up for tonight. As she walks by Jacob runs up to her and asks “are you coming to the game tonight?”

“I don’t know I have to study for the chemistry test next week, sorry.” Amber says.

Jacob looks at her and says “ok maybe next year you can come and cheer us on.”

“Ya maybe” Amber says as she walks down the sidewalk.

Later that night when Sean’s Father gets home his father looks at him and asks “what the hell happened to you?”

“I got beat up repeatedly.” Sean says as he gets off the couch and goes to his room to get some sleep.

That night at the championship game Jacob and Mark look around in the crowd and they don’t see Sean. Then Jacob thinks that he is being a chicken and wants to see if they were serious about their threat. So he and Mark decide that next week they will make Sean pay.

As the weekend progresses Sean thinks that Jacob and Mark had forgotten about him and moved on. So he walks down the road and sees Amber walking up the street but on the other side of the road. As he sees her he also sees Jacob running up to her. So Sean decides to head back home before Jacob sees him. As he turns around Amber had seen him and called out his name to try and get his attention. As she gets Sean’s attention Jacob looks and sees Sean. When Amber had gotten Sean’s attention she sees him turn and start running down the street and tries to figure out why he is running when Jacob runs past her. Then she notices that she kind of set him up for Jacob finding him.

As Sean is running down the street as fast as he can, Jacob is still catching up. As Sean can see his front door he thinks “I am going to make it” but as he thought that he felt a hand grab his shoulder and he realized Jacob had caught up with him. Then the last thing he felt before he was knocked unconscious was Jacob kicking the back of his leg. As Sean falls to the ground Amber runs in to try to get Jacob to stop hitting him.

As she gets across the street Jacob already started to walk away so Amber decides to see if Sean is ok. When she gets to him she kneels down to see where he is hurt and asks “are you ok?”

Sean gets up and looks Amber in the eyes and says “ya I am fine.”

As he says that Amber notices that he was lying. So she thinks “what is going on that is making him so depressed.” Then she sees his father stand in the front door saying “there you go getting beat up again, why don’t you fight back, is it because you’re too weak or something?” then Sean just goes into his room and doesn’t come out until Monday.

As the weekend passes and Monday has arrived Sean wakes up late on purpose so that he wouldn’t have to deal with Jacob and Mark again. When he arrives at the school he notices that the school was closed and locked. As he is trying to figure out why someone texts him and the text is from Amber saying that school has a two hour delay. So Sean sits down on the front steps of the school waiting for someone to unlock the doors so he can get in and get to his class before Jacob and Mark arrive. As an hour passes by he sees a bus drive up and drop off some students but Sean sighs I sign of relief because neither Jacob or Mark were on the bus. As more and more buses arrive Sean starts to panic because the school isn’t opened yet. When the last bus arrives he notices that the basketball team is not at school.

As the janitor unlocks the door of the school everyone starts to walk in but Sean is the first one inside. As Sean gets to his locker he can hear Jacob and Mark walking down the hall. Just as Sean was about to walk to his first class Amber stops him and asks “why do you take crap from Jacob and Mark?”

“I don’t know it’s probably because I’m such an easy target.” Sean says closing his locker.

Amber looks at Sean and says “you shouldn’t take that you should take a stand and protect yourself.”

“I know but then I’m the one that gets in trouble.” Sean says as he looks at the ground.

Amber looks behind Sean and sees Jacob and Mark walking towards them and says “well just get in trouble then but fight back I don’t like seeing my friends getting hurt.”

“Ok but I guess I shouldn’t be your friend then because I’m always going to get beat up and nothing can stop it.” Sean says as he walks away.

As Sean walks to class Jacob and Mark walk to their class but Amber is still standing by Sean’s locker thinking about what he said. Before she realizes she has a tear run down her face and one of her friends walk over and ask “are you ok?”

Amber looks at her and says “ya I’m fine.”

“Are you sure because I have never seen you cry in school before?” Her friend replies.

Amber wipes the tears from her eyes saying “ya I’m fine don’t worry.”

Then Amber and her friends walk to their first class but Amber holds onto what Sean said to her. As the day goes on Sean thinks that Jacob and Mark are done messing with him so he walks down the hall during class without looking over his back. As he soon finds out that it was a mistake to do that because Mark and Jacob snuck up behind him and hit him in the back of the head with a history book. As Sean fell to the floor Mark and Jacob grab his feet and drag him towards the locker room again. When they are in the locker room Jacob picks Sean up then throws him into a wall of lockers leaving a dent in the lockers where Sean was thrown. Then as Sean was getting up Mark grabs him and thrown him into a brick wall with enough force to crack a couple bricks.

As this event was taking place Amber walks past the locker room door and hears a lot of commotion in the locker room so she runs to the Principal’s office. When she enters his office she says “Jacob and Mark are beating Sean up.”

The principal looks at her and says “let them be maybe Sean will learn a lesson from them beating him up.”

“Why does no one in this school care about him, I find that to be pathetic.” Amber says as she walks out slamming the office door.

When she leaves the office she notices Jacob walk out of the locker room with blood on his hands. Then she runs over and says “what did you do to Sean?”

“Mark and I taught him a lesson about skipping out on things that represent his home town.” Jacob said with a smirk on his face.

Amber looks at his hands and says “I think you guys took it way too far.”

Just then both Jacob and Amber hear Sean scream because Mark had just broke his arm. As Sean screams Jacob runs back in the locker room to find some way to shut Sean up without making him go unconscious. Amber is standing outside the locker room door wondering if they are going to kill him. Just then she hears them throw Sean into the wall of lockers again so she sits up against the wall and starts to cry.

As she sits there crying she can hear Jacob and Mark beating on Sean and not stopping. Just then Jacob and Mark walk out of the Locker room and they both are covered in blood. So Amber tries to ask if they killed Sean but she can’t get the words to come out. As they walk down the hall they wipe the blood from their hands on their pants. Then she can barely hear Sean trying to get up but he is in so much pain he gives up and just sits there until he has more strength to move. As the bell for school to end Amber just keeps on crying and her friends just walk past like they didn’t even notice her.

Then minutes pass by and Amber stops crying to listen if she can hear if Sean is still alive. As she listens there is silence in the air and then she hears him trying to get up again but this time he is successful and he limps to the door. As he gets to the door Amber opens the door and helps him walk down the hall. While they are walking down the hall Sean asks “why are you helping me when you could just leave me so you wouldn’t get covered in my blood?”

“I’m helping because I don’t like to see my friends in pain especially those closest to me.” Amber says as they pass by the office.

Sean looks at Amber and says “oh well thanks.”

As they make it to the door the principal walks out and asks “did you learn your lesson Sean?”

As the principal asks, Amber turns around and yells “if you would have done your job Sean wouldn’t be injured right now so shut the f**k up!”

Then she turns back around and Sean and Amber walk through the doors and start heading towards the hospital. As they get three blocks away she notices one of their classmates, named Carol Jenkins, sitting on the curb. As they pass by, Carol looks at them and is shocked and asks “what happened to you?”

Sean replies quietly “I was almost killed by Jacob and Mark from school.”

As Carol is looking at Sean, Amber says “I am helping him get to the hospital so he can get some medical help.”

So Carol looks and says “I want to help too.”

So Carol gets on the other side of Sean and together they walk towards the hospital. When they get there they walk in the emergency room and the nurse at the front desk looks up and says “good god what on earth happened?”

As Sean has very little energy and strength to answer Amber answers for him saying “he was almost killed by a couple of classmates.”

As Amber told the nurse, the nurse gets him into a room. Then a doctor walks into the room and says that they will need to take a couple x-rays and a couple CT scans. So as Amber and Carol are waiting in the room they get their homework done. As they were working on their homework Amber looked at the clock periodically and she looked at the clock when they started their home work and it was four O’clock. When she checked it after they were done it was six O’clock so she began worrying about him. Then Carol, sitting across the room from Amber, asks “what made you decide to help Sean when you had nothing to do with any of this?”

Amber looks at Carol and says “don’t tell but I did it because I have feelings towards him.”

“Really then why don’t you tell him?” Carol asks all excited.

Amber looks at the ground “I don’t know what if he doesn’t like me?”

“How will you ever know if you don’t ask?” Carol asks Amber.

Amber looks up at Carol “ok I will ask him when he gets released from the hospital.”

As Amber and Carol are sitting in the hospital room talking, the doctor is taking the last X-ray of Sean’s arm. As the doctor hits the button for the last time the doctor says “that’s the last one, I will talk to you about what I found but it might take a little while.”

Sean looks at the doctor and says “ok thanks.”

As a nurse pushed Sean in a wheelchair back to the room where Amber and Carol are waiting the nurse says “what did you do to get yourself so badly injured?”

“I was attacked by two people in my class during school.” Sean says with a slight sense of pain in his voice.

The nurse looks at Sean and asks “did you tell the principal what had happened?”

“Yes I told him when they attacked me the first time.” Sean says.

As they get to the room Amber notices the nurse has a shocked look on her face but the nurse left before she could ask her what was wrong. When the nurse leaves Amber asks Sean “how do you feel?”

“I am fine but you both know you could go home instead of staying here because of me.” Sean says as he looks at both Amber and Carol.

As Sean says that Carol looks at Amber and Amber looks at the ground and Carol says “It’s because Amber has something to tell you.”

Then Amber looks up and says “what are you talking about?”

“Go on and say it now is your best chance.” Carol tells Amber with a smile on her face.

Sean looks at both of them with a confused look on his face when Amber says “ok fine.”

Sean looks at Amber and asks “tell me what?”

“It is kind of hard to explain but.” Amber says moves closer to Sean.

Sean, still confused, asks “what is hard to explain?”

“I like you.” Amber says while she blushes and looks at the ground.

Sean looks at amber with a shocked look on his face “I like you too but I didn’t think anyone liked me.”

Amber looks up and smiles “well I do.”

“Cool” Sean says as the doctor walks into the room.

The doctor looks at Sean and says “your injuries aren’t too severe so you can be discharged tomorrow if you want.”

“Really, that’s awesome” Sean says with excitement.

As the doctor walks out of the room Carol says “that is the best news I think anyone of us has heard all day.”

Amber and Sean look at each other and just smile. As they were looking at each other Amber’s phone starts to ring. As she pulls it out to see who is calling her she sees that it is her father. As she answers the phone she hears her father begin to ask “where are you it is almost nine o’clock?”

“I’m sorry I’m at the hospital with a friend.” Amber replies.

Her father pauses for a moment and asks “who is in the hospital?”

“Sean because he was attacked during school and almost killed.” Amber says as she looks in to the room.

As she says that her father is silent for a couple seconds and asks “is he ok?”

“Ya he is fine he has a broken arm and a concussion and that’s the severe part.” Amber replies as she leans up against the wall.

Just then her father replies “it’s ok then as long as you come home before midnight.”

“Ok I will be home in an hour or two.” Amber says as she hangs up the phone.

Just as she gets off of the phone a nurse walks in and says “visiting hours are over so if you could please leave.”

Then Amber says “bye Sean I will see you tomorrow, ok?”

“Ya sure thing” Sean says as Amber and Carol leave.

The next day Sean is discharged at 7:35AM and decides to go to school to see Amber. When he gets there he sees Jacob standing in front of the school so he decides to turn around and go in through the back door. Just then Jacob looks over and sees Sean and walks up to him “hey sorry for what me and Mark did to you I didn’t think he would go as far as to almost kill you.”

“You guys put me through so much pain that I wasn’t the only person you had hurt.” Sean says to Jacob as they walk into the school.

As Jacob and Sean are walking down the hall Mark walks in and sees Jacob and Sean and thinks Jacob is trying to distract Sean so he can run up from behind and slam something into the back of Sean’s head. So he grabs his backpack and runs at full speed towards Sean but Jacob sees him coming. When Mark is right behind Sean swinging his backpack Jacob pushes Sean forward so Mark would miss his attack. Just then the principal comes out of his office just as Mark had swung his bag at Sean he realizes that Sean was telling the truth the whole time. As mark misses his attempt Jacob turns and punches Mark and tells him “stop dude, we took this way too far especially you.”

“How did I take it too far?” Mark asks with a confused look.

As Mark looks at Jacob with a confused look Jacob says “you took it too far by almost killing him and breaking his arm.”

Just as Mark and Jacob start yelling at each other Amber walks through the front door and sees them arguing and sees Sean at his locker so she walks over and gives him a hug and says “good morning.”

“Hi you’re really happy this morning.” Sean says as Amber has her arms around him.

Amber looks Sean in the eyes and says “I’m happy because you’re here.”

“I’m happy to be with you right now.” Sean says as he and Amber walk down the hallway towards their first class of the day.

As the bell for class to start Jacob and Mark is still standing in the hall yelling at each other when the principal walks up and just then Jacob notices and says “I am sorry sir for my actions and I will accept any punishment you have.”

The principal looks at Jacob and says “ok then go to class, as for you Mark you are from here on out off of the basketball team and suspended.”

As Jacob is walking away Mark tries to plead with the principal to let him stay on the basketball team but the principals words were final. That day at lunch as Sean was walking through the lunch line Jacob walks up to him and gives Sean a bottle of Coca-cola. As Sean is wondering why Jacob just says as he is walking away “again I’m sorry for what we did.” Then Amber, already sitting at a table, looks at Sean and makes room for him at her table. As Sean sits down some of the people sitting at the table want to ask “why is he sitting with us?” That’s when Amber says to them that Sean is her boyfriend and that if they don’t like it then they can find a new place to sit at lunch.

From that day on the school has set up rules and regulations against bullying, and as they started accepting these rules other schools in the area started to accept them as well. Before you know it every school in the nation has rules against bullying and they have punishments for people who break those rules. So as we all know “it takes one person to take a stand but it takes an entire nation to make a change.” So because of this event in this schools history every school in the nation has policies that deal with bullying. So if there is bullying in your school, please don’t be like the gym class in this story or like some of the heartless people in this story that act like they don’t see anything happen. We don’t need people getting picked on and made fun of for what they did in the past or what cloths they decide to wear. So please if you see bullying in your school stand up for the person getting bullied and make a change in your school or neighborhood.
