A Poem by Andrew Mcguinness

the church bells are sirens that signal Armageddon
it turns out the world's hung by strings and the fibers are threading
the bombs will explode and expose the secrets of our dark sides
the choirs will debate for our redemption but their fighting with lies

when the chords finally break all gravity will sink
space will be ripped out like a rug pulled from beneath feet
we'll be falling forever in the cold endless night
fire will light up our lives but we'll pray for just a glimpse of a sunrise

the sinners will burn in perfect time
the love songs we all held so dear will be seen as far past their prime
it will take total darkness but we'll all see the light
it took the souls of a globe but we fought the good fight

Mother earth will hang
father sky will meet the gallows
we had every advantage but never stood a chance

a blank page, a clean slate, a dirty face with a blank expression
a phone ringing nonstop in a house in a town that's long since abandoned
I’ll be standing steadfast with my double cross
under the weeping tree where the sands have no name
this will be my message in a bottle to the generations that will never come
"green and blue to ash and ice and we did it to ourselves"
