Dungeoneer

Dungeoneer

A Poem by John

I've

got a lot

of things to say

I hope I don't stray too

far from the point but I might

get a little lost in here from time to time

but that's okay, I brought a map and besides

these walls and halls are known to lead the way

for visitors who mean no harm to the owners of this place

but my words have a tendency to reach out and touch people

and some of my friendly visitors aren't always the same afterwards

but most the time it's safe to say we'll make it out of here okay

and if we don't it's only a matter of time until we might choke,

but the floors and doors only creak to let all of us know,

that we may only have another passage to go,

we might make it out before the end of days

or might just lie and hope we don't die

and as the stones and bones

start to close in around us

the torches will go out,

darkness all about,

and all our shouts

will become

whispers,

prayers,

gasps,

sobs.
