Duplicity Pt 2A Poem by AndyJMI….I did it. I did it. Did you hear me? I said I did it. I killed her. Like you told me to.
Like I told you to? These are your dreams, your fantasies, Your pleasures.
Pleasures?! You think I took pleasure in this?
HA! You did didn’t you? Hearing her beg as you gave her the rites? Watching her cry as you drew out the knife? Felt yourself swell as you turned on the lights? Watched her light fade as you snuffed out her life?
Yet you hold me to account for this night, Was it I who drove steel to trembling heart? You’ve taken too much now to make things right, Innocence slain and a mind torn apart.
A mind? My mind? What would YOU know of my mind? You say I created you, but it was you who created me! After all, is it not your thirsts I slake? Is it not your burden of sickness that I bear?
I am but a symptom, boy. A symptom. Nothing more. Who are you talking to? When you cast these accusations abroad? A man? A ghost? I am neither, boy and both.
Ha! Riddles! Speak plainly or speak not at all, I say! You’re everything, yet still nothing at all, Are you madness? I’ll cast you out, I’ll pray! For freedom from this curse, my heart’s black fall!
Pray? To whom? To God? To be free from what? From the darkness inside, your own red deeds? Ha! A fine thing, I’d wager, forgiveness! For the hatred steers you, your own selfish needs? You’re ignorant, made deaf by your blindness.
I….killed her.
Did you enjoy it?
Yes. Yes.
