Yolo

Yolo

A Poem by Andrew Williamson
"

An attempted mock up of one of the many acronyms in circulation. Pronounced 'yo-low'

"
I must admit I’ve yolo’d,
at least half a dozen times,
it justifies the wrongs you do,
excuses all your crimes.

But yolo isn’t like that,
it’s supposed to be a phrase,
that helps you understand your time,
live out your numbered days.

Yolo is a message,
you’ve got one life to live,
Be gracious and respectful,
do not take more than you give.

Oblivion is fated,
it’s written in the stars,
yolo was created,
to be graffiti sprayed on cars

It seems that in the present,
the youth don’t understand,
that life is finite, precious,
each day begins unplanned

Make every day your greatest,
make every night your last,
As you yolo into darkness,
your mistakes are in the past.

You cannot simply ‘yolo’
to right the wrongs last night,
It’s a message for the days ahead,
A promised land of light.

nice take on the overuse of an acronym that should be about preservation not self-inflicted wasting. good work
