SPACE CADET

Sometimes we feel like we are wired to the moon....or at least I do....please tell me that isn't just me??

Flicking  through the paper an advert caught my eye,

I hesitated slightly as I almost read right by,

"Space Cadets required all across the nation"

The job was made for me so I sent off my application.

"Experience required" I guess that's where to start,

I knew if nothing else I most definitely had that,

I'd achieved many medals in my journey on the way,

A "Professional" cadet, I guess that I could say.

Most "Recent Employment" well technically it's true,

Not a day of unemployment, break well overdue,

I haven't had a sick day in at least 20 years,

Dedication and commitment to serve up with my fears.

It said to state my "strengths", I had to pick and choose,

The winning streak I had was that I never failed to lose,

I knew the road to stardom, almost always on my way,

I'd simply been diverted when the roadworks had delayed.

It asked "My Life Ambition" what did I dare to dream,

Had I kept striving forward when the past was all I seen,

Had I kept my goal in focus even when I couldn't tell,

If I was going to end up in heaven or in hell.

"Personal Statement" I think this is where I,

Stand by my conviction and show how hard I try,

With rock hard perseverance and hope beyond compare,

The proof was in the picture with many marks still there.

"2 references required"....this may take some time,

I'd have to pick the right ones to make sure they align,

They need to represent the job to which applied,

I'd better get this right or they'll think I might have lied.

"Other Relevant Information"....I could be here a while,

I began to realise and as I did I smiled,

They were looking for a space cadet, calling out across the nation,

The job's already mine so I withdrew my application.
