A Poem by Naomi Montana Walsh
"

The Lesson of Narcissus and Echo

"

Lesson from OVID #1
Narcissus and Echo
When, Narcissus , Became aware of Echo's Love for him,
He Cried" I would die, before, I will give my power to you,"

She was so crushed by his words, she did as she could only do, Echo them, but in her pain they became" I would give, you my Power".
For the first time Echo said what her heart truly felt, and at that moment she became a disembodied voice.

Someday soon , Narcissus would learn just how Echo felt, for he too would fall deeply in love with something he could never have.
It is even more poetic that the one he would love would be himself, but not truly himself, but a reflection of himself.

I wonder how many times this has happened to me, that at the moment I spoke what I felt in my heart I became a disembodied Voice and how many men in my life where only looking for a reflection of themselves to fall in love with?
But, maybe, I just read to much into it.

I choose to believe that these stories are meant to convey

a wealth of wisdom to us all.

Yes, we have projected love, like a teen, and true romantic love, which is deep companionship plus a strong sexual desire. Most of us (like me) are confused and diffused, having never really gained full maturity, which is a strong factor in truly picking a decent match. I have a doctorate in psych and metaphysics and have been married 4 times. Go figure? Karma is stronger than knowledge and I am still a teen emotionally, however, a bit sharper.

I love your piece!

Jack's review intrigued me and so I came. . . there is wisdom in your words. And wisdom in the stories.

I wonder sometimes too:

how many men in my life where only looking for a reflection of themselves to fall in love with?

Someday we'll know the answers to questions like this.
