Sun/Son

Sun/Son

A Poem by Anna Ivanova
"

It's a forever thing.

"

All my hopes, dreams, wishes, desires,

All look to your face first.

Maybe someone out there sees us,

Besides you (maybe) and me.

Doubtful, though.

The lord supreme over all the lands

Foolishly placed your safety with me.

I don't know why I was granted

An honor so complex to fulfill.

Overestimated, badly.

Can I chose my hopes, dreams, wishes, desires,

Over your safety, protection, one to understand?

In a world where such as you are eaten,

Devoured, as chattel without a market?

And live as if no such honor or duty bestowed?

The sun could not rise and catch my smile

Without knowing the status of yours.

My son, who was placed in such reckless care

Angels by name, but mere faeries of mind.

Show me mercy this one time,

I beseech you.

Bring my son to me.
