Associative

This is my submission to the "Beauty In Words" contest, enjoy.

Emotions are like a rollercoaster

And rollercoasters a sinus function

The age of my loved ones a cosine function

That will hopefully never be periodic,

For I want to stay with just this one person

Who will ride along with me, through ups and downs,

Like waves or flight turbulences we shall experience

On our joint way to happiness.

 

Walking normally? Not possible,

But having a race on a crowded walkway without stepping on any cracks is,

And so is drawing postcards with all our favourite characters,

And when we’ll see again in autumn, we could make crowns from leaves

And be like children again

Enjoying the beauty of everything,

And finding beauty in the illusion of self-imposed ugliness,

And crafting birthday gifts for each other,

A box for drumsticks, a bag for music sheets,

A box for pencils and pens, a scarf like a Mobius loop,

It’s amazing how a twist in your life can make something one-sided interesting,

Is it not?

 

And yet true beauty is never one-sided,

My love, and neither are you,

You have infinite depths and layers within your heart like the tangent function �"

And math is almost equally beautiful,

As it describes all around and inside us,

The polyphony and counterpoint of life and the people around us,

That all intertwine �" and through all the differences,

The harmony shall always stay,

Between you and me and all of the world.
