Societal Amnesia

Societal Amnesia

A Poem by Anne Timmins

scattered
tattered
tossed

upheaval-until we can't recall
remember
idealize

illusions.. .
pictures mere flashes
just
memories
not even!

blurbs!
what is that?
who knows?
our sub-conscience
can't arouse

We can either sink or swim within or without. Your words recall all our idealizations. Excellent...:)..............

There are things said here that float from beneath the surface, so much to take in and so little time to process. Well enjoyed Anne

Pausing really to examine what you truly meant with your poetry, I must say: the message expressed here, that society has a way of presenting news in an eye-catching way while our memories can only process so much, so we tend to forget what was "the big thing!" just a week ago, was quite an exquisitely presented one and you've chosen your title well. Finely written.

Very nice use of words. You create thoughts and reaction in the poem. Each set of line making the reader did into the meaning of the short statements. I like how your closed don the poem. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
