Curtains

Curtains

A Story by Anningley

She peeked around the corner, catching a glimpse of the long, silk curtains blowing away from the window. If she got caught looking into the room, she knew trouble would follow. But she had to. There was a force pulling her. She watched as the morning sun gently cast a pale light over the room’s bare, light yellow walls. The wind rushed in, bringing a scent of roses out into the hall, brushing under her nose. She crept forward a tad more. She caught sight of the foot of a bed. The sheets were tucked in tightly as if no one slept there. Instantly she knew that no one had been in there for a long time. It was completely silent except for the faint tinkling of a wind chime outside the window. Something happened in there. Something bad.
