You left, he didn'tA Poem by AnoovratThe poem is about the complicated relationship between you and the stray dog to whom you had once given something to eat.
Remember that stray dog
You had once given something to eat? His expressions said a thousand words, For him, it was a new kind of treat. Wagging his tail with happiness, Happiness similar to that of a boy. The boy who keeps himself busy, For him, your food was nothing short of a brand new toy. His gloomy eyes met yours with disbelief, The act was regular for you, not for him. You were there to put an end to his hunger, He knew. He sang a silent hymn when the sunlight got dim. Devoid of affection, there he stood. He was used to being kicked and beaten. He was suspicious. Your actions were unusual. You left, he didn't. Remember that stray dog You had once given something to eat? He ate your food all at once, He must've wanted to write 'Thank You, God' down on a sheet. He stood there long after you were gone, You got busy with your life, He stood there, waiting. Weak, pale and fragile. He had wanted just another slice. Soon, he faded from your memory, You had more things to care about. His lonely life, without children and a wife. If he could, he would've yelled your name out aloud. He must've have felt ignored, His vision now had a tint. Perhaps, he did feel ignored. Because, You left, he didn't .
