Misery Loves Company

A Poem by Aria

Such a bright and shiny star I've found

Keeping me safe and warm and never alone

Your melody my favorite little sound

Until you break me bone by bone

Morning after morning you come out to play

Night after night you put me to bed

Making me hang on every shimmering word you say

Making me wish us both dead

Light my way then burn my eyes

Pull me close then throw me away

Hear me scream from our lies

Then hope and pray, pray we won't stray

Such a bright and shiny star I've found

Keeping me safe and warm and never alone

Your melody my favorite little sound

Even after we break us bone by bone

Author's Note

Aria
i think the title says it all...open to interpretation but this is about a relationship that's not the healthiest no matter how much it wants to be. about loving someone you shouldn't, knowing you shouldn't but doing so anyway, regardless of the consequences

Thanks ladysue. Appreciate your input. I wrote this last night so it's very fresh. Glad you liked it. =)

I agree the title does say it all...that last stanza says it all too...holding on to familiarity, some good moments and comfort, but on the whole like you say in your note it is unhealthy, but the longing is still there. I thought this was written very well with a good flow...nicely done...

I don't do well with talking about myself so I will simply say that my writing sets the stage for my imagination to play. But more than that, every piece I write, whether a poem or novel, is a bit of .. more..
