A Lovely Burden

A Lovely Burden

A Poem by Antonina

I hold your heart in my heart,

clasped against my breastbone,

just beneath the skin.

Each breath;

a heave below this weight,

draws it closer still

fusing muscle into bone.

How I’ve tried to set it loose,

pry it free with trembling fingers.

But it holds me firm,

and lingers on

clutching at my chest.

I hold your heart in my heart.

I hold your heart.

Very sweet, dear friend. I like where it takes me... one reads... and has a respect for feelings of the other one.. I liked this whole picture of each stanza and the heartfelt atmosphere of sentimentality. gandr

Good job! I like the way it draws me in. Just wish it were a little longer. :)
