The Mountain Man

The Mountain Man

A Story by CA Anurag Sharma
"

This is a real story of a person named Dashrath Manjhi. A movie is also being made on him.

"
What can a person's attitude do?
What if I tell you that a person's resolve can even cut the mountain?
Its not a fiction but a reality....How a person single-handedly cut the mountain in a village in India?
He died in August 2007 but his story inspired many that with will and courage you can do the impossible.....

His name was Dashrath Manjhi... also known as the Mountain Man of India....He lived in a small village called Gehlaur in Bihar, a state in India... His wife Falguni Devi died in 1959 because she couldnt get the timely medical attention. It was due to the distance between their home and the nearest hospital which was 70 Kms.... it was due to the mountain which came between.....
Unlike others Dashrath didnt take it as a call of destiny...he thought about what transpired and then decided to do the impossible... he decided to cut that mountain and decrease the distance between his village and the town where that hospital was located...
People called him a lunatic... but he didnt listen.... they said it was impossible but he didnt listen... he went on to do what he wanted to...he worked day and night for 22 years...Yes.. you read that right... 22 years....!!!!
He started the work in 1960 and ended in 1982.... this was his resolve.....A distance of 80 kms was cut short to 13 kms...he didnt get any assistance from anywhere....
This is better than the creation of Taj Mahal I guess...(a monument of marbel which a king created in remembrance of his deceased wife)....

This is what a resolve of a person can do... this is what happens when a person decides to do the impossible....
It can be done.... if you think... if you believe that it can.....
