Confession...

Confession...

A Poem by TV
"

The myth of forgiveness...

"
Confession is the great charade.
As if mere words can undo the sins we’ve done.
Like the arrow that will never return to the string,
the sin can never be retrieved.
While the target is known,
the damage along its path is neither known nor predictable.
Isn’t atonement the real penance for forgiveness?
Can we be cleansed if regret isn’t sincere,
on bended knee before that faceless chorus of victims asking why?
What about sins of omission? Is there confession for
things we didn’t do? Confession is rationalization, a justifying of
our actions against the background of what’s right. Hidden is what’s
right is the atonement we seek.
