Over You

Over You

A Poem by APoetsMuse

You moved out from my heart,
I knew it was better for us to part.
But somehow you think I’m waiting around,
Beating my head and pounding the ground.
You should know me better then to sit and wait,
But in case you forgot, let me set you straight.

You are the one, who said you would change,
But months later you were still the same.
You should have tried to fight,
You could have tried to make it right.
Now you say that you’ve grown and changed,
But I know I’ll be the one to get shortchanged.

You cry out that you want to come back,
You want me to forget all the heartbreaking facts.
You should have loved me the right way,
You could have but you decided to stray.
What else is there to say?
Your heart didn’t want to stay.

You have tainted my memories,
But this is the last you’ll see of me.
I won’t spend my time looking back,
No longer will I make excuse for the facts.
You knew I wouldn’t stick around,
Not after all that went down.

Did you really think I would wait for you?
After you bit off more then you could chew.
Now you want me back, but our time has passed,
From the beginning you showed me we wouldn’t last.
Now nothing you do will bring me back to you,
Please get it in your head that I’m over you.
