The Ex Before You

The Ex Before You

A Poem by APoetsMuse
"

ex, new relationship

"

Don’t hate on me when your man looks my way,
If your game was tight I wouldn’t have words to say.
But you look at me, knowing the truth in my eyes,
Now you’re scared that I might bring light to your lies
So please don’t blame me because the sparks between you two are gone,
Because as of lately he seems so far away and withdrawn.

Take the crumbs and follow them to the truth,
You’re not the happily ever after or the fountain of youth.
Your story line is uneventful and will end very soon,
Try to console yourself on this lovely afternoon.
Hold on to all his memories, hold them true and near,
But with one glance at you , I can feel your desperate fear.

So don’t be mad because we had a past,
What you think you have, will never last.
Because I’m the glass to his water, the bird to his sky,
He’s the smile on my face, and the brush on my thigh.
The passion we have you can only dream of,
It was written in stone by the man above.

So, you wanted to hate on me, well now you have a war,
You’ve already lost the battle because I’m the one he adores.
So take your pride and wobble away,
Go think it over, under a sky that’s Grey.
Let the clouds comfort you and cover up your tears,
I just hope that this message is pretty clear.
