With This Ring

This is a story of long ago,

A thought that crossed my mind.

Maybe it's one you'd wish to know,

And something to leave behind.

My friend and I,

Talked on the phone,

Way back in my high school days.

I was at school on the east coast;

She was further away.

I know there's a baby you've carried,

And there's a man you've married.

On which day would you say,

Your  true love has tarried?
