A Long Time Ago

A Long Time Ago

A Poem by Draven

His sword was sharper

than the mightiest of blades,

but his wits were sharper still.

He cut down any man

who stood in his way,

driven by the power of will.

A hero, he was -

fiersome and bold.

Of a legion he was in command.

The side of his face

was printed on gold.

His name was known throughout the land.

Some would say

he fed on dragon blood,

others would say he was a god.

When it came to bloodshed

he could never have enough.

He'd conquer a kingdom and move on.

I hold now the sword

of a legend that all know.

I keep it on a shelf, out for show.

Folks marvel at it

as they come and they go,

for my  grandfather died a long time ago.
