The Wisdom of Children

The Wisdom of Children

A Poem by Draven

I look in your eyes and I see myself reflected,
My smile dancing across the waves of your iris
In the most unrestrained and carefree of ways.
Staring back, you see no broken pieces,
But instead a hero to aspire towards,
A friend to appreciate, a guide to follow.
You see me as I am, for all that I am,
Past the destruction that rests at my gates,
Past the emptiness concealed in my walls.
You see my beauty when its hidden from me,
Left in places lost far from memory.
You teach me to look beyond, to live again,
To follow you as we're reborn again,
Moment to moment.
