My Hollow Kingdom

My Hollow Kingdom

A Poem by Draven

I stand in my empty house
With its empty rooms in the silence
Which screams so loud
I can hear nothing else.
I've conquered it: my Hollow Kingdom,
Void of the sounds of playing children,
Starved of love and warmth and passion,
Tainted by the pain that reverberates
With every step I take.

Such loneliness, such agony,
Such longing for things that cannot be.
Such blinding darkness, it's all I see.
Such demons waging war with me.
This blood I bleed, these memories,
My hopeless thoughts, my broken dreams.

The tears fall like the drops of a thunderstorm,
Pooling around my feet to reflect my failures.
This hurricane ravages my soul,
Ripping apart the foundation of my being
And shattering the windows of my heart.

All my efforts gone to waste,
Not so little, but far too late.
The past with all its crushing weight
Is trapped within the picture frames -
A fate which I could not escape.

Is this what it's like to die and still yet be alive?

I can feel the pain through your words. The loss.. The loss of family is the hardest thing a person can endure and this poem portrays that. It's a good write and handles the heavy emotions well. It's sad but so is the subject. Well done.
