The Pit

The Pit

A Poem by Emma Raether
"

A poem about depression, and a bit of a sympathy poem for emos. They're not all posers you know... I used to be one of them, I was the real thing. People made fun of me anyways, thinking I was trying to get attention, when really I was on the verge on su

You dare to smile
When so many are suffering
You worry about what to wear
Not even caring that
So many are dying each day...

Dying from this misery
The pit
From it a voice whispers
Reinforcing youth's fears

You're ugly!
You're fat!
Oh go look at that!
See, you aren't good enough

They are weak
These times blind them
And constrict the
Little blood flow left
In them

They cry out
Even if they cannot speak
Look at their eyes

Wrists scarred
Eyes shrouded
Bodies painted black

No one listens to them
But the pit

So young so foolish!
It does not listen
It devours,
It feeds upon your fears
And finally, it will feed upon you

And so I preach
Do not give in
Youth of america!
The light will come!

Help heal the wounded
Do not fall
For your worst enemy
Is not yourself
But the world!

We must stand up
We must fight
Even if it means;
Sacrifice
