My Broken Vase

My Broken Vase

A Poem by Emma Raether
"

Eh, an oldie. I don't like the name, but it's an alright poem. Readers from my other sites seem to like it. I wrote it when I was sitting right next to him, too.

"

Why must it pain me
To see your face everyday?
Why must I hold back
My tears and turn away?
I never knew an angel could make life hell...

Why is nothing I do
Ever good enough for you?

I would climb the mountains
Swim the sea
I will count the stars
If it means you'll love me.

Freeze me upon the mountaintops
Drown me in the sea
Strike me with lightning;
Put me out of my misery

My heart is a vase in a store
You broke it, and it's not mine anymore
It was bought with my pain
It was bought with my blood
But all I ever really wanted was your love

Author's Note

Emma Raether
Mind you, my bleeding was symbolic and literal. Whenever I saw him, it was like I was bleeding on the inside...and then I started to cut myself. So yeah... but I've been over him for a long time now so no worries!
