Nemesis

Nemesis

A Poem by Chris Jones
"

A poem about being your own worst enemy

"

Nemesis

Shoe step the same

                We play the game

Around and around and around

                Again…

Nemesis looks me in the eye

And looks to bring me to my demise

Who could unravel the simple surprise

Of a killer cloaked in familiar disguise

Murder, Murder it tries to achieve

                By inseminating through false belief

Woe it shows

                It comes and goes

Bludgeoning bruises till I bellow

Tainted rain, as black as crow

The Nemesis waits and sits

And surely grabs my pen a bit.

Till it comforts me into abyss

And tries to make my opinion shift

To live or die

Fight or cry

Walk among gaia

Or peruse the skies

While the opinion shift I fear is nearer

There is but one thing that I find the clearer

That the nemesis lies waiting for me in the

                Mirror…

You are very wise. The hardest person on us. Is the one looking back at us. Great wisdom and thoughts in the poem. My Grandfather told me. "Never allow a man to look down at you and go forward. Learn from mistakes and forget them." Thank you for the outstanding poetry.
