Too Selfish

Too Selfish

A Poem by Arix
"

A poem I wrote during the Bush-era. Showed my feelings during that time.

"
There is a young girl standing on a street corner
Selling her body for a little cash
To keep the hunger pangs away

But all you see is yourself

There is a man sitting on the street
He hasn't had a bath in months
Begging and stealing to survive

But all you care about is your power

There is a woman with bruises on her face
Waiting for him to come home
Praying he had a good day

But the only ones you help already have everything

There is a boy who struggles in his school
He is called stupid and idiot
With a little help he could shine

But the only ones you teach are half a world away

There is a young woman who speaks her mind
She is not afraid to say what needs to be said
And now she speaks to you

But you won't listen

You're just too selfish to care
