to all rejected stalkers of their muse

to all rejected stalkers of their muse

A Poem by Wandering Minstrel

ahhh my dearest muse,
abandons me as well
I have had so many
pink slips in my life
that I could do a ballet in them,
wearing ankle length tu-tus
over my hairy gams,
times a hundred costume changes,
and an audience of editors
and publishers, and literary screeners
producers and record execs
directors and professors
who I would with delight,
bend over in front of while
spotlighted in ten thousand watts
and shoot a most glorious full moon
as I rip their pink slips
from my graceful form
and expose the real face
of what they sometimes reveal
when they deny artists because
of anal retentiveness or
quotas or ignorance of
what could be the next great work....
A soul-ution perhaps
write one of your best
poems  and put it
in that book,
that denied you
and return to the store
and put it on the shelf...
then photocopy the same poem
and place a folded copy of it
in all of the other books
so that all who buy this tome of poems
will see the thrust of your mission
that was driven by omission!!
....or just keep trying,
I am a fan of your work,
that's one!!!, now there are
twenty-two billion or so more to go.

The muse is something that we alone will fall in love with. I have been lucky enough to have a job that allows me to dance with my muse nightly and have others pay for it. But with poetry... will be buried with a thousand unread and unwanted pieces, but they where never poems. Only parcels of a conversation with my mind. Well expressed write here.
