Today...

I saw
But truly did not see
Was seen
But truly not noticed

I spoke
Yet I did not speak
I was heard
Yet no one listened

I smiled
And was not happy
I laughed
And without joy

I was present
Though a million miles away
I was here
Though long gone

I needed mercy
Was afforded none
I needed compassion
Was offered it not

I wanted someone
No one came
I wanted worth
No one spoke
