Lament for Laurelin the Golden

Lament for Laurelin the Golden

A Poem by ~Sarah~ Idríel The Fair
"

Younger of the two trees of Valinor.

"

Golden-song, Malinalda and Culúrien, she had many names. Yavanna, Maker of the two trees blessed those trees in Valimar and Eldamar. For long time they were loved, especially Laurelin the Golden by Vána The Ever-young.

But so it happened that darkness arrived during the First Age, and destroyed the trees, thus ended the song of Laurelin. Great was their despair and bottomless their grief. Yavanna sang and Nienna wept but Laurelin showed no signs of life. Then Vána came, singing about how golden song rises over mountains and journey across sky until the night and darkness arrives.

So beautiful it was that Laurelin gave the last gift of her, which Valar made the Sun, Anar, in her memory.

And Vána follows the Sun and remember singing Laurelin The Golden,

dearest Tree of All.
