First Crush

When I first saw you,

I couldn't bring myself to look away,

So I kept staring,

Wanted to do it for the whole day,

But then you turned my way,

So I forced myself to look away.

After that for many days,

My eyes would always keep scanning the place,

Always looking for your trace.

You didn't have to talk to me ,or even look my way,

Your very presence would delight me,

And compel me to stay.

I was eating ice cream on a summer noon,

'One butterscotch', I heard you say,

We were just few inches apart,

My heart skipped a beat,

Just that trivial encounter made my day.

But then you left, went far away,

'Got transferred', they say,

Found that hard to digest,

'Well', I thought, you didn't even know my name,

And clearly you never felt the same,

But still bought a butterscotch anyway.
