Do Not Resuscitate

Do Not Resuscitate

A Poem by Ashira Macy

You came to me

Once upon a blue moon,

Eyes full of apology

Singing that tired old tune.

A rose in your hand,

A lie on your lips.

Promise of a wedding band

Read off of a script

I am older now

And wiser too;

I don’t know how

I ever loved you.

Sincerity displayed

Too little, too late

Game over now Babe…

Do not resuscitate.

My pre conceived ideas always haunt me but then again somehow they also surprise me. What a lovely surpise this is. I was coming all locked and loaded embracing the Do-Not-Resuscitate Status when refering to the potential for an illness to become terminal and hence after sound mind if proven you will carry that with you for others to know. This is were the suprise bit comes in because it also works at the metaphor for that person that did not rise to the occasion as you branded him anyhow.

Thankyou

A dead romance is like a dead flower. All the water and fertilizer in the world is ot gong to bring it back.

Thank you Marie, you are correct.
Love the rhythm and rhymes in this piece. After the love is gone, after the hurt, all you can think is-WHAT WAS I THINKING!
