Humpback

Humpback

A Poem by Ashira Macy

You twosome

Teasing jesters,

Diving down below.

Flowing, playing, dancing

How you love

Each other so.

Great curved backs

Emerge from the sea

With such clear pride;

Shooting water

Through the air,

Gravity aside.

Wading along

The rock-clothed shore

Forever in a pair

Singing in tandem

Harmonies that

Show how much you care.

This piece definitely got me on a personal level... I love the way you depict the whales, in their awe-inspiring majesty... not just for their sheer might and size, but also in their connection with each other. Not really sure what to say, on a free-verse such as this, beyond that this moved me. Thanks for sharing.

I liked this a lot, it feels open to the reader, although heavy imagery is used. I interpreted it as two people being ignorantly in love. Kind of like a secret meaning, still enjoyable read no matter the true meaning.
Favorite-ing this.
