The City Of My Mind

The City Of My Mind

A Poem by Ashley
"

Only I know every street, every flashing light

"

Glass towers

That shine like fires

Dark slums

With shadows that speak in tongues

Bright lights

Move in the streets during day and night

The castle

Taking center stage

Is less of a palace

More of a library

Filled with a billion pages

Buildings that are too close

That are mismatched, half white,

Half a dirty black

With narrow streets

From outside

It should look mottled and cracked

But the illusions hide it

Make it look pretty instead

It works, just

Running parts into the ground

Just to keep up appearances

Just to maintain the illusion

Only I know every street

Every flashing light

A few close friends

Might see a tinge of darkness

But only I know every street

Every flashing light

In the city

Of my mind

Good one sometimes the illusions seems to be more striking then the reality. The title is really good

I really like this. We all have our secret, few may see the halls, but none but us see the rooms
