Christmas

Christmas

A Poem by Ashley
"

Christmas isn't great for everyone.

"

Christmas

Was your start

Was your end

Where you began

And where you stopped

What you loved

And what you hated

Family time for others

Meanwhile, you were just alone

Red decorated the trees

Your friends brought

But decorated

Your bathroom sink

You spent 20 years

Trying to understand

Why the universe

Made you shed tears

When others laughed

Why Christmas

Brought joy to others

When to you

The only thing it brought

Was the promise

Of more scars and loneliness

Why others dressed in red

When all you did, was spill it

You wondered for 20 years

Until the cuts you made

Couldn’t appease the dark

So you gave it your soul

Now the only angel on top of my tree

Is a picture of you

Because if we forget you again

Then we forget about those

For whom

Christmas isn’t a shining beacon

But a fire

Liberal to burn

You might not be able to tell, but it's based of the idea that a twenty year old orphan born on Christmas day commits suicide after a while of self harm
