A Poem by AssonanceWriter

Since the day you left

I still wait for you

The table is set the same way it used to be

When the days grow darker

I set the candle lights on

I sit across the table imagining your pretty face gazing back at me

When it's close to midnight

I still leave the window open because you loved the view of the moonlight

I write many letters and crumple them up in my room

When I think of you, I imagine you twirling in your pretty turquoise dress

I know the truth

There won't be a day when you'll come back

but then you are still with me

in this hallway, your laughter danced through the hall

in this library, your fingerprints remain on the bookshelf

You are still with me inside of my memory

in my dream, I still hear your sweet voice comforting me

In my waking life, I still feel your presence even if I imagine it

our love won't fade away

I will wait forever, that's no problem

I've waited long enough to have met you

I'm sorry, I'm unworthy but I still love you

Since the day you left

I still wait for you

The table is set the same way it used to be
