Even Straight Roads Meander

Even Straight Roads Meander

A Poem by Celestine Astraea Firestorm

A new beginning, they say
That's how these cards played
Entering a fresh realm
I'm taking control of this helm
Leaving this sorrow-ridden domain behind
With metallic chains, this gate I'll bind
I'm moving on, I don't want this anymore
I'm tired of the "how comes" and "why fors"
I've been on a journey, of physical and spiritual awakening
Where everything was laid out blatantly
I've burned some bridges, but built some too
I took roads unfamiliar, and along the way, I grew
An exciting turn of events unrolled
I'm a woman now, not to withhold
It's a matter of fact, I've been around the world
In the beaches of Singapore, my toes curled
"The time has come, the Walrus said"
Maturity comes with experience, not just your head
