Book in the Shoebox

Book in the Shoebox

A Poem by Atlas

I blew the dust off of the old shoe box.

On the top, was the symbol of a fox.

It was bittersweet.

I was excited to relive those childhood memories,

But I knew they would bring back bad memories as well.

I carefully removed the lid and peered down at the box of treasures.

Money couldn’t even measure it’s worth.

Memories swarm through my mind,

All reaching the surface simultaneously.

Childhood Friends, Games, and Toys.

Those childhood joys.

I push away the blocks.

I take a book from the box.

A childhood favorite.

The thing that inspired me to write.
