A Tale of Severed Pages

A Tale of Severed Pages

A Poem by Devashish Kumar

Severed from their old family,
memories- of hellos and goodbyes
and everything in between- laid
scattered on the old granite floor.

Slivers of sunlight streamed through
the cracks of the broken window and
warmed up those shared chronicles
of picturesque sunrises and sunsets.

Those off-white ragged pages
which stored countless tales of
conversations gossiped softly with
zephyr seeping in through the window.

When a gush of cold wind arrived,
awed they immediately began running
hither and thither around the room
recreating massacre of last night.
